Rocamadour is a village with a population of 600 habitants, built in the mountain in the region of Midi-Pyrénées, since the Paleolithic.
As Rocamadour, more villages were built here to benefit the place and because centuries ago, it was
harder to attack them. It looks as a tale, and its sanctuaries are very
famous, people used to visit them, including kings and nobles.
It is an amazing place to visit both for its location and its monuments. The village is built on the edge of a cliff, with the river Alzou below at the bottom of the gorge.
The houses are attached in the mountain and some of them are so big that can reach almost 120 metres.
The city is so interesting but if
you want to see all it will be tired too, there are a lot of stairs for the
river to the last buildings, but during this path, you can enjoy amazing
sightseeing’s like historic churches and the castle of the town.
Not to mention that, two local monuments are listed in UNESCO as World Heritage sites as part of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela.
