Dique do Tororó, Salvador, Brazil
The 'Tororo Dike' is a dam built in the 17th century, in a natural valley. Initially it had protective function against invasion. From the 19th century, the Dique began to be grounded to the city's expansion, considerably reducing its size.
Today is a sports area and well wooded leisure. It has an amphitheater, community centers, paddleboats, restaurants, and twelve sculptures of deities signed by the artist Tati Moreno. The deities are represented Iansa , Nanã , Ogun , Oxalá, Xango , Yemanja , Oshun and Oxossi.
Practitioners of Candomblé (strong religion in Brazil and mainly in Bahia) believe in one all powerful God called Oludumaré who is served by lesser deities. These deities are called orixas, voduns and inkices.
A good tip is to go there in the evening, that way you can see the wellspring by day and by night, in each period a different scenery.
