PNN El Cocuy

Day Trips

PNN El Cocuy

El Cocuy Natinal Park is one of the most underrated attraction in Colombia. The park is in the North-East part of the country, in Boyaca region. You can spend a few days around 4000 meters in one of the "cabanas" (cottage house) in the Andes.

Day 1 - PNN El Cocuy
Events of the day
Los Andes
Transportation from Bogota (Bus terminal) to El Cocuy: like 9-10 hours bus riding, there are night buses also. One way ticket is around 15 EUR (like 45 000 COP).
El Cocuy is a small, charmy town, next to the National Park (altitude 2750 meters) - the bus drops you off here then you can take a Milk Truck or you can negotiate with someone in the city to take you up :-) Milk Truck is around 4 EUR (12000 COP/person), private driver is around 25 EUR (80 000 COP/car). You can choose one of the cottage house in the nature - the Andes here is simply amazing - a lot of peaks with more then 5000 meters high, amazing fresh air, and incredible view everywhere.
One night in a cabana (really simple wood house) is around 15-25 EUR (45000-75000COP/person), usually with fresh, local breakfast and dinner made by the locals. This is a unique and indescribable experience for everyone.
