Well, this stairway exists and it is called the Haiku Stairs, in Hawaii.
It is commonly known that is illegal to hike up the 4,000 steps ladder, however there are many discouraged extreme hikers who insist going on and enjoy the spectacular and breathtaking view from there.
It is said, that these steel steps were created in 1943 at the Second World War, for the Coast Guard to catch a glimpse of the view at the top of Puu Keahi a Kahoe on the island of Oahu.
However, in 1987 it was considered too dangerous for the public, so it was forbidden to anyone to pass by there. Whoever though, insists, has to pay an expensive insurance.
At some points of the ladder, you have to climb heights that are almost vertical, over 2,500m over Haiku Valley until the top of Puu Keahi a Kahoe where some peaks are truly right abobe the clouds! –wow!-
